A note from Amanda Carlson….
LoCouture Designs is based in New Milford, a semi-rural area nestled amid the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. This small business is an evolving project that compliments my day-job as a professor of African Art History, which has inspired many of the LoCouture products. After years of research in West Africa and a stash of African wax cloth, crafting became a productive outlet to offset the intellectual work of teaching and research. The launch of this website is a response to COVID CRAFTING—it’s a thing! In 2020 I found myself with lots of extra stuff to share. PLEASE visit the shop. LoCouture is sure to evolve and change.
